Feel-Good Productivity
Ali Abdaal
I’ve read a lot of productivity books. And unfortunately, this one didn’t bring anything new to the table.
The title promised something fresh — a blend of emotional wellbeing and productivity that I hoped would go beyond the usual hacks. But most of it felt like a repackage of ideas I’ve already seen, often in more depth, in other books or even on Ali’s own YouTube channel.
My expectations? Probably too high.
Ali is widely known as a productivity expert. I expected edge. Innovation. Insight from the trenches. What I got was a gentle, surface-level stroll through ideas that now feel like common sense.
• "Do what you enjoy" — yes, but is that a strategy or just a mood?
• Tools and techniques — familiar and already part of my system.
• Frameworks — polished but not paradigm-shifting.
To be clear, the book isn't bad. It's accessible, well-written, and well-organized. It’s a solid starting point for someone new to personal development.
But if you’ve already gone deep into this field, you’ll likely find yourself nodding along, not taking notes.
